Did a fresh install of Beta 2 on an Intel 915PBL motherboard with built-in Realtek HD Audio. 1GB RAM, Nvidia 6600GT PCI-e video card, 3.4GHz P4.
Everything seems to work pretty well, but the audio stutters badly. I downloaded the Realtek drivers for Vista and installed them, same issue.
Also dug up an old SB Live! card and installed it and disabled the on-board sound, Vista had drivers for the SB Live! but the stuttering persists.
Hard drives are SATA, the stuttering seems to occur during spikes in CPU usage perhaps? Are there any known workarounds for this? I'm really surprised that at the Beta 2 stage that sound would be this flaky.
Thanks!

Audio Stuttering
I had this same issue, and I discovered the stuttering was not a cause of the Audio device, but the graphics driver. I would would recommend getting the latest video drivers for your video card. Thats what I did and it reduced the stuttering significantly. -- -- Andre Windows Connected | http://www.windowsconnected.com Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta

I have also updated my drivers to the latest Vista Beta 2 compatible drivers from Nvidia's site. No change in the stuttering.
With an Nvidia card this doesn't really surprise me. Their Vista drivers so far have been less than joyful to put it politely. Although they released new drivers on May 23rd (ver 88.61) that have made the problem go away for me. Using a program called Task Info, I found that Nvidia's beta drivers were flooding the cpu with interrupt requests. Does your mouse pointer stutter now and again as well?

I have the exact same problem as well. Installing Vista on SATA (non-raid) driver makes it even worse. Didn't happen in older builds, for me anyway. 88.61 driver makes stutterring less awful, but it is there.

Yes, the mouse pointer does stutter from time to time. I'm thinking that you guys are probably right in that it's a graphics driver issue more than anything...
